MARGEN Model MX-TMR5000 is a state-of-the-art, high capacity resistive load bank system intended for testing and routine maintenance of

  • Large generators, or other AC and/or DC power sources.
  • Shipboard Generators.
  • Large Power Distribution System.

The trailer mounted load bank is available in various rating and configuration. The available range ratings are

  • 380/480 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 3 Phase AC or DC, 250 to 550VDC.
  • 1000 KW to 5000 KW.
  • Highway Rated Trailer rating ranging from 4000 kg to 7000 kg.

The trailer & container is constructed of heavy gauge steel with a durable polyester powder coat finish. The load bank incoming power connections are made inside the main cabinet directly to copper bus bars.

The load bank control power is provided from a standard internal control power transformer which derives power from the input load bus voltage. This eliminates the need to run a separate 120 VAC utility feed to the load bank which can save significant time and cost. Alternatively this control power can be provided with external separate source.

MARGEN’s proprietary resistor load elements provide the necessary power loading for each individual load step. The resistors are constructed from precision nickel-chromium resistance alloy and are fully supported within the air stream by stainless steel rods which are insulated with high-temperature refractory ceramics. Heavy-duty, PLC controlled magnetic contactors provide load application of each load step.

This model is available in various versions with various options to meet customer specific needs.

The load bank is digitally controlled via an on-board PLC with colour touchscreen display and includes standard data monitoring (Voltage, Current, KW, and Frequency) with test data capture to a USB drive. The load bank can be operated in manual, automatic, or multi-station mode. Multiple load banks can be daisy-chained together and run from a single controller for higher capacity testing. The digital controller includes a wide range of safety circuits including cooling- air loss, over-temp, over- voltage/under-voltage, and load dump. All load is automatically removed and locked-out in the event of a safety circuit trip. A hard-wired Emergency Stop switch is also included.

Load Bank AC/DC

Description

We offer custom load bank solutions for manufacturers of Uninterruptible Power Supplies, for Manufacturers of Portable Diesel / Electrical Generators for factory production testing and for companies that require routine load testing of their standby diesel / electrical generating systems that are used as back up or emergency power. Indoors or outdoors loading application and are available in both custom and standard resistive / reactive loads. These state of the art load banks are available in single or three phase loading capability and have variety of sizes designed but can simply be put into two categories either Stationary or Portable.

Load bank resistive element is sealed inside a tubular element. Thus, the electrical current carrying resistive wire is not exposed to the ambient air (similar to an electrical bread toaster). A sealed resistive wire has far longer life when compared to an open resistive wire (because of open wire exposure to dusty, oily, humid airflow, and ambient exposure). Each element is individually sealed and insulated. Therefore, it is protected from the ambient air and from shorting caused by any contact between the elements. Each element is separated to allow uniform airflow and temperature distribution. Periodic retightening of terminals is not required for this load bank. The terminals are not exposed to high temperature and distanced from the heating elements.

The load banks are enclosed, the load banks can be mounted on the floor or suspended from the top. The load bank mounting must be vertical in order to allow for natural airflow with hot air rising from the cold air intake on the bottom to the hot air outlet on the top. The cooling air inlet opening are at the bottom of the load bank and at the two bottom sides of the load bank. The hot air outlet opening is at the top (roof/ceiling) of the load bank. Thus, depending on whether the load bank is mounted on the floor or is suspended, appropriate air inlet and air outlet ducts can be attached to the load bank. This will allow outside air to flow through the load bank and to exhaust to the outside.

MARGEN Model MX-R1000 is a state-of-the-art, high capacity resistive load bank system intended for testing and routine maintenance of standby generators, UPS, or other AC power sources. Designed for outdoor installation, the load bank features vertical hot-air discharge to keep the installation footprint to a minimum. The load bank is digitally controlled via an on-board PLC with a colour touchscreen display and includes standard digital monitoring with test data capture to a USB drive

This load bank features a modular design with common sub-assemblies which improves quality and shortens lead- times. Quick shipping is available on various models such as 500 KW, 750 KW, and 1000 KW sizes.

The load bank enclosure is rated NEMA-3R and is suitable for permanent outdoor installation. The cabinet is constructed of heavy gauge steel with a durable polyester powder coat finish. The cabinet has hinged access doors with lockable latches. Cooling air is drawn in from the screened intake sides and the hot air exhaust is directed vertically upward through a stainless steel gravity louver. Forklift channels are included in the base for easy positioning and placement. The load bank incoming power connections are made inside the main cabinet directly to copper bus bars.
